ATP Leaders & Losers in selected categories:-

Highest 1st Set Win Percentage:

Nicolas Mahut led the rankings, equal with Rafael Nadal.


Mahut won 80% of first sets in 2013.
Lowest 1st Set Win Percentage:

Paul-Henri Mathieu won just 20% of first sets in 2013.


Highest 3rd set win percentage:

Rafael Nadal won an incredible 92.9% of deciders in 2013.


Lowest 3rd set win percentage:

Michael Llodra, along with Jesse Levine and Rajeev Ram, failed to win a deciding set in 2013.


Highest Service Hold Early in Sets (First Two Service Games):


Ivo Karlovic built a strong foundation in early stages of sets, holding 94.1% of the time.

Lowest Service Hold Early in Sets (First Two Service Games):

Pablo Carreno-Busta often had a deficit after the first two service games, holding just 63.2% in those in 2013.

Highest Service Break Late in Sets:

Rafael Nadal was the player that broke most when it mattered, doing so 35.9% of the time in the late games of sets.


Lowest Service Break Late in Sets:


Injury-hit Gilles Muller only broke opponents 4.2% in late games in sets in 2013.

Worst Players For Giving a Break Back when a Break Up:

Rogerio Dutra-Silva struggled when a break up, giving the lead up 66.7% in 2013.


Best Players For Keeping a Break Back when a Break Up:

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was superb at maintaining a break lead, letting it slip just 8.8% of the time in 2013.


Best Players For Recovering a Break Deficit:

Mikhail Kukushkin’s small sample of matches showed him to be top for recovering break deficits, doing so 57.1% in 2013.


Worst Players For Recovering a Break Deficit:

Adrian Mannarino is not a player worth backing when a break down in a set, recovering that deficit to get back on serve just 11.1% in 2013.

Serena Williams led the rankings in many categories, including this one.

Sofia Arvidsson won just 12.5% of first sets in 2013.

Highest 3rd set win percentage:


Lara Arruabarana was 7-0 (100%) in her deciders in 2013.


Lowest 3rd set win percentage:

Shuai Zhang failed to win a deciding set in 2013.


Highest Service Hold Early in Sets (First Two Service Games):

Agniezska Radwanska came third in this category, behind Serena Williams and Shuai Zhang, holding 75.7% of the time in her first two service games.

Lowest Service Hold Early in Sets (First Two Service Games):

Melanie Oudin often found herself losing after the first two service games, holding just 40.9% in those in 2013.

Highest Service Break Late in Sets:

Victoria Azarenka broke the second most at the business end of sets (behind Serena Williams), doing so 54.4% of the time in the late games of sets.

Lowest Service Break Late in Sets:

Anna Schmiedlova only broke opponents 16.1% in late games in sets in 2013.

Worst Players For Giving a Break Back when a Break Up:

Aranxta Rus found it very difficult to keep break leads, giving the lead up 83.3% in 2013.

Best Players For Keeping a Break Back when a Break Up:

Maria Sharapova came third behind Serena Williams and Shuai Zhang for holding onto a break lead, letting it slip just 28.2% of the time in 2013.
Best Players For Recovering a Break Deficit:

Jamie Hampton had incredible break back stats, coming second behind Serena Williams. She got a break deficit back on serve 70.9% in 2013.

Worst Players For Recovering a Break Deficit:

Yulia Putintseva was the second worst behind Anna Schmeidlova on tour in 2013 for getting a break deficit back on serve, doing so just 26.3% in 2013.
